Wedding Playlist (Served with a little Sappiness)

Most everyone has gotten their cds from the contest now, so I guess I can reveal the mystery of what is on them. I know you guys have been checking my blog 100X a day, waiting impatiently, wondering when she will just tell us already. (I don’t have an inflated sense of self-worth, nope-not at all). Hehe. I hope you aren't too dissapointed that didn't send you Britney Spears new cd! I put a lot of thought of what songs I was going to add, and in what order. Here is what I came up:

Feels Like Home is the song we chose for our first dance. The song word for word just describes what this relationship means to me, and I can’t wait to share that moment on the dance floor with Adam. Josh Kelly put on a small concert at my college my freshmen year. I even got to talk to him for about 20 minutes after the show. He is a kind guy, and I love his musical style. Amazing is one my favorite songs by him. I felt obligated to let Adam choose a few songs since he is the groom and all. He loves 80's music, so his first pick was Hungry Like the Wolf.
Be Be Your Love is a great ballad song with great lyrics. My only regret about this choice is everyone is going to think that "Be Be" is a typo (even my spell-checker keeps trying to fix it). I choose All for You because that is a song almost everyone knows, so hopefully that will be enough encouragement to get people to embarrass themselves out on the dance floor. I first heard Forevermore on an episode of One Tree Hill. (My musical taste is obviously very edgy). I really just love how fun this song is, plus Kate Herzig is just incredible.
Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) is Adam's second choice, not that I'm complaining. It’s a classic song, and I think its fits in nicely. Hey Julie is one of the catchiest songs ever, and this is a much better Fountains of Wayne song than Stacy's Mom. Not that I’m hatin on Stacy’s Mom. I listen to Hazy all the time. It is my favorite song on the mix. I guess I like it because it reminds me of that moment you have in a relationship when you realize you are falling in love, and you wonder if this person could really be the one for you (or if you were in over your head). I also adore how the man in the song echoes the same fears. Go buy it on ITUNES now, you won’t be sorry.
I bet you can’t guess who picked out this song…Adam lives for Journey, and what is a more iconic song than Don't Stop Believing? I love love love Lenka's unique style of music, and the best line from The Show is, "Life is a maze, and love is a riddle." I'm sure it will upset some people that I would add a non-Beatles version of the song In My Life to the play list. But this is the song I plan on dancing to with my father. I haven't always been really close to my dad, and we are trying hard to mend our relationship. But I didn’t choose a father/daughter song because that would feel like a sham. So I think this slow downed female version of the song, is a nice alternative.
1234 is a song you probably know from the IPOD nano commercials. It's a fun song, and isn't getting married just a culmination of "those old teenage hopes". Yeah I have a confession to make, I totally love Dashboard Confessional, and Stolen is just a wonderful love song. I added Fearless for a couple of reasons. First, I love country music and I couldn't believe I hadn't added any before this. Second, I love Taylor Swift, I love her music, and if she was just a little older I might do inappropriate things with her....
My philosophy is that every good mix ought to have a little Hootie & the Blowfish, and really how can you not like "Only Wanna Be with You"? I once saw an interview with Ingrid Michaelson that said her goal was to write a love song using less than 50 different words. That is how The Way I Am came about, I love the whole concept behind the song. Accidentally in Love is just a great song to end the mix with and will be the last dance at the wedding.

P.S.-This weekend I'm flying home for my bachelorette party, and on Sunday I'm having a bridal shower. Saturday is going to be crazy, and I have heard whispers of a condom necklace. I can see myself sitting in P.F. Changs-tipsy, with a condom necklace, praying we don't get kicked out. I'm going to die. Then take pictures. And maybe write about it. Have a good weekend guys, see you next week.
