Happy Birthday to Me

If 2009 was a leap year, in a few hours it would be my one year blogiversary. Which really makes me wonder does it suck to have a leap year birthday? Or does it just make it really awesome when your birthday finally comes around? I guess I should really say this is my first anniversary on blogger. I have actually been keeping a private journal online for over eight years now. When I read through those archives, I want to go back in time and tell my teenage self to just get over it already. Oh the ANGST that is documented there.

This year has been a record one for me. I got engaged. I finally found the half sister I had never met. I traveled to Israel. I graduated from college. Then I (the girl who hates change) moved 2,000 miles across the country, and dealt with all the highs & lows that came along with that. I blogged about farting, facebook, and my crazy family. I gave myself the freedom to start sentences with the words "but" & "and". I hosted a CD contest, and posted playlists of my favorite songs. I moved into a cottage, and went on a nearly soul crushing job search. I adopted a dog. I shared openly about my anxiety disorder. I redesigned my blog four times.

When I decided to start blogging publicly, I could have never imagined the happiness it would bring me, or all the amazing people I would meet. I rejoice with you guys, I worry for you , and sometimes my heart breaks right along with you. And I would like to think that you feel the same about me.

Blogging has taught me a lot about myself. And I feel so much joy when someone follows me, and I've learned how not to care when someone unsubscribes from me. This is my 171 post, and I'm not stopping now. So I hope you all will join me on this ride. And now I can add the handy dandy a year ago today feature at the then end of my posts, which I've always wanted to do.

365 days ago (give or take):
I will be a different person, and I am sure I will go through a lot of internal changes. Everything is moving so fast and I’m just trying to stay on the ride. And even though I hate change, I’m open to it.
Serendipitously, in my first post I talk about my move to California.

  8. So right as I wrote that last comment, I looked to see when I started this blog, and um...my blogiversary was March 1st. I missed it! Wow...um, if my blog was my boyfriend I'd be in big trouble right now. ;-)

I love comments, and I always read my comments. But sometimes I make a mental note to go comment back on your blog, and then forget to (Even if I’m an avid read of your blog, whoops). Since I'm so bad about this, I will mostly reply to comments in my comment section, so please check back! If you have something pressing to talk to me about you can e-mail me at brittanyervin86@yahoo.com.
