Two Days Belated

Dear Adam,

First of all I want to say I'm sorry that I broke into your facebook account, and made it possible for everyone to see that today is your birthday. I just don't understand how someone would not want everyone in the world to know it was their birthday. I'm a birthday whore, when it’s my birthday even strangers on the street are going to know it. And don't you think for one moment that in my happiness over your birthday, I have forgotten that mine is only 11 days away! Oh wait, this isn't about YOU not about ME oops.

It was this time last year that we moved in together. I look back at that time in amazement, because I wasn't at all nervous about committing to you forever. I'm a bundle of nerves at almost any moment on a daily basis. My indecisiveness and second guessing of myself are legendary. But I had such a calm & peace about this life change because it was with you. I would be a big fat liar if I said it has been easy. We are both semi-only children, who really value our alone time. There were times, especially in the beginning, when I know we both just wished for a few hours to ourselves for gosh sakes. There were little arguments and big arguments. And sometimes you get grouchy and I get emotional. But we always work it out. Not that we are some perfect couple, but we laugh and smile a lot more than we argue or cry.

A month ago we got married, and when I woke up on our wedding day I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I took our wedding party to and fro the salon, I went to the ATM to get the money for the minister, I had to get dressed, I had to get my make-up done, and then be downstairs for pictures. But then I saw you pacing outside from my upstairs’ window, and all of a sudden I felt peaceful. I was marrying the man I love, so who gives a hoot if the wedding starts exactly on time? We both choked up during the vows, and then we partied the night away with our friends and families.
I love how you look like MacGyver when you are overdue for a haircut. I love the way you smell when you first step out of the shower. I love how it doesn't matter how many times I explain it to you; you don't understand why a navy shirt & black pants just don't go together. I love how you love my nieces & cousins just as much as I do. I love how you take care of me when I'm sick or am just having a bad day. I love that when I was fretting over whether or not I had what it took to make it in grad school, you told me that in two years you knew I would have another diploma to hang on our wall.

We have so much to look forward to. We have our honeymoon, birthdays, Christmases, and anniversaries. And someday far off in the future I hope we have a child with my hair, and your eyes & smile. I love you baby, Happy 25th.

P.S.-I know I couldn’t do as much as I wanted to do for your birthday this year. But I hope you enjoyed your Spiderman cupcakes. It was cheesy and nostalgic, but isn’t that what birthdays are all about?

365 days ago (give or take):
There is nothing really that special about 24. It seems that after 21, there is no other big birthday to look forward to. But there is one really awesome thing about 24. In the words of Jessica Simpson, “I’m old. 24 is almost 25, and that’s almost mid-twenties!” Truer words were never spoken.
Last year's birthday letter.

Since I'm so bad about this, I will mostly reply to comments in my comment section, so please check back! If you have something pressing to talk to me about you can e-mail me at
